Product Description

Glycopyrrolate is a medication of the muscarinic anticholinergic group. It does not cross the blood-brain barrier and consequently has no to few central effects. A synthetic quaternary amine, it is available in oral and intravenous (i.v.) forms. With counterion, it is known as glycopyrronium bromide.
 
Glycopyrrolate blocks muscarinic receptors, thus inhibiting cholinergic transmission.

Glycopyrrolate is a quaternary ammonium anticholinergic drug, which has the effect of inhibiting gastric secretion and regulating gastrointestinal motility. It also has a stronger anti-saliva secretion effect than atropine, but it has no central anticholinergic activity and can be quickly taken after oral administration. Anti-acid, antispasmodic and analgesic.
This product is an anticholinergic drug. It is rarely used clinically. It can selectively act on the gastrointestinal tract and has a strong inhibitory effect on gastric secretion. Used for ulcer disease, gastritis, hyperacidity, etc. This product is a quaternary ammonium antimuscarinic drug. Its surrounding effects are similar to atropine. However, this product has a strong inhibitory effect on glandular secretion. It is mostly used for pre-anaesthesia administration in clinical practice. Its sideeffects are also typically atropine-like (i.e., dryness of themouth, urinary retention, blurred vision, constipation).Glycopyrrolate is a more potent antagonist on M1 than onM2 and M3 receptors. The low affinity of M2 receptorsmay, in part, explain the low incidence of tachycardiaduring use of this drug as an antispasmodic.77 Because ofits quaternary ammonium character, glycopyrrolate rarelycauses CNS disturbances, although in sufficiently highdosage, it can bring about ganglionic and myoneural junctionblock.
