Sodium salicylate is an organic compound with the chemical formula C7H5O3Na. It has white scales or powder, is odorless, and turns pink when exposed to light for a long time. Soluble in water and glycerol, insoluble in organic solvents such as ether,benzene, etc. Flammable when exposed to fire. Mainly used as analgesics and rheumatics, as well as for organic synthesis. It can be obtained by neutralization and crystallization of salicylic acid with alkali.
